jaros, I used some 3/4" black pipe for the shift rail collars. It is a slightly loose fit. They are about 1 1/8" long. Then I used some 1/4" flat stock, cut to fit inside the pipe, as well as inside the shift rail slots. This is what gives it a nice snug fit. Looks like the tabs for the rod ends to bolt to are 3/16" by 1" wide. This is all stuff that happened to be in my metal stock pile.
I believe the main bolt is 1/2" by 4" long. I took my bolt and a shifter to Whisler Bearing, (they have a large selection of bronze bushings) and the measured both and found a bushing that was very close to matching both. I ran a drill bit through the bushing to open it up slightly, and sanded on the bolt for the final fit. The bushing is 1" long, which isn't as wide as the shifter hole. It was that or use two shorter bushings. Hope this and the pics make sense.

Great idea on the bushing from Whistler! I got some plastic ones from Sturdivants for brake pedal setups that are very similar to stock ones but they are a little wiggly to use on that adapter I got from you since the shifter bolt was different. I'm not doing a twin stick but the shifter bushing is the same idea either way.

I've been really slacking on my thread! Doesn't seem like I'm getting much accomplished. A fair amount of small stuff. Here are a few pics.
I had to turn my 71 doors, into 72's. Got them mounted, and the body shimmed and bolted down. Been mainly working on firewall and dash stuff.

Turp, looks good. Nice to see im not the only one that has thought about making 71 doors in to 72. Little things like thay bother me on my vehicles. I like factory stock and have nice California 71 doors to go on my 72 k5 but didnt know if I wanted the hassle to cut that piece out.....maybe I will now.

What are your plans with the floor now that the rammat has been applied? Are you going with a carpet or can you use line-x on it?

briank, It really isn't very difficult to add the 72 hole. Don't forget about reinforcment piece for the latch area, as well. My doors are actually off of a 71 pickup.
mtully79, I am going to add some of that foil covered bubble wrap stuff from Menards, and then a stock style carpet. I've used the foil/bubble stuff in many vehicles, and it really makes a big difference in keeping both sound and heat, out of the cabin!

Years ago I found a couple of vacuum gauge dashes in a salvage yard, while driving through Nebraska. I added one, and a camaro tach to my blazer dash. I blasted an painted all of the dash housing stuff, but forgot to take pics. Rather than cut out a hole for the tach plate, I just flattened out the ridge in the factory tin, and drilled some holes.

I bought a windshield and got it installed as well. I was expecting it to be a bear with the short 72 trim, but it went in really easy! Installed the dash harness and dashpad next. Went back and installed a trip odometer also.
