What did I get myself into???

Hello all, this is one of my first posts...
Last Saturday I traded my 1967 c10 shortbed for this 1971 K5 blazer. The previous owner took it rock crawling so the body has seen better days but it's got great bones underneath, 350 sbc with efi and mild cam, sm465 4 speed, np205 transfer case, 5.13 gears and 42" tires. It's a beast!

My plan for this truck is to make it a little more street worthy so I can drive it to work a few days a week and use it to get me out of the Phoenix heat on the weekends.

Re: What did I get myself into???

I've seen this on the Las Vegas craigslist ... find a replacement grille and put the light bar on a bumper.... Make it look like a Blazer again.

Re: What did I get myself into???

Very cool K5! I agree with the previous poster, I'd locate a factory grille and put that back on...

I knew someone here would have seen the Craigslist post for it. Putting a new grill on it is probably on of the first things that I'll change on it. A grill and doors...

It drives well, haven't taken it out on the highway just yet cause I want to get all the paperwork done first. It stops great, hydroboost disc brakes are awesome! I'll have to look into that headlight height issue, I've seen bigger trucks on the highways here, weather or not they are legal is another question altogether.

Never thought anything would stop 42" tires, glad to hear, as I have hydro boost on mine

Welcome to the board. Looks like a beast. Ya might want to get a full cage and for the doors, you could always make them removable like vtblazer did - http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ighlight=doors

Re: What did I get myself into???

I have hydro-boost on my K5 but I'm only running 35s. Can't wait to see how well it works.
If you didn't get a top, just run truck doors. You can cut them down later if you want.
Add a pair of lights low in the front bumper if you have headlight height restrictions.
