Intermediate e brake cable

I have the stock intermediate brake cable on my 70 C-20 and there is no more adjustment left it is tightened all the way. Do they stretch after time?

Thanks Trip

Are you sure you are not missing one of the frame rail guides?

Here is a picture of what you should have.

Re: Intermediate e brake cable

Yes all components are in place.
New drum brake pads installed as well should be in the front end of the adjustment.....

That is odd. I suppose if someone used it a lot it could stretch. There is a lot of threads on the primary cable adjuster and it usually hits somewhere from half way to the open end of the threads. Did you put any new cables on it? They make slack adjusters but they look a little hokey if you have a nice truck...... I don't know how much you are talking but you might be able to put a small piece of tubing between the nut and the cable saddle on the adjuster. I would use a small flat washer at each end of the tubing.

Are they in the proper location?? A summing bar that's too short or missing will cause this.. Also wrong brake shoes could be the problem..

No problem. Yeah, let us know if that solves the problem.
