Now just have them load it up under the hood and you'll be golden!

Happen to have a part number for that Kenwood deck? I really like it!

Kenwood KDC X696. It's my second one, they're nice. Bluetooth is convenient.

Re: Project "Yetti" 87 GMC short bed

No kidding! I have it in my '12 GMC and it is nice. The stereo i have in my 90 Suburban is about 12 years old, ugly, no blue tooth, missing a couple lights on the display etc. My suburban also is blue with blue interior so i think that Kenwood would look right at home! Thanks for the info. Great build BTW!

Re: Project "Yetti" 87 GMC short bed

Peer pressure. It's a bi*ch!

But I'm not letting all of you off that easy. You're going to have to wait another day or two for the "completed" pics, because I ran out of steam (and light) after doing the flip and the passenger front.

Rear: Specialtyretail's (forum member) flip brackets and Belltech shock relocators. Removed factory bumpstop brackets. Stock shocks for now. That's it, simple and cheap.
Front: McG 2.5" spindles, cut one coil, stock shocks. Whichever sway bar fits better between stock or a massive CPP bar.

Also got my '87 tags on. And in between yard work, church, kids stuff and the lowering I managed to get the '71 out and wash her up. The ladies took it for a spin.

Nice!!! So you gonna drive it like that for now?! The driver side spindle is optional equipment anyway I do believe.

I suppose I could, that's the look with the mini truck guys, right? Except for I'll have to take my hitch out...just about got hung up turning around in the driveway. I felt gangsta for about 3.5 seconds.

Yes, they worked great and very cost effective. The flip kit went something like this: Unbolt shock lower mounts. Remove both leafs. Replace rusty and broken centering pins with allen head bolts. Remove bump stop brackets (4 rivets each). Drill a hole in the spring plate for the new bolt location. Install leafs and flip bracket. Install shock extenders, shocks. With more blood, cussing and rolling around on the creeper looking for stuff of course. Took about 3 hours.

Thanks for the writeup! I've been wondering about those brackets. I was gonna suggest some fly azz Dayton fo yo whip, dawg. Hard to pull a trailer like that though!

It's finally happening!!!!!!!!

The rear looks good. I can't wait to be doing this to my truck. It's embarrassingly homely right now.

Very nice! What rim size did you end up going with? Love them squares dressed in white.

I threw the 15x8's on there with 1/4 spacers for now. I'm on the hunt for some 15x7's.

Thanks! I feel like it still needs a sport bumper, 20's, 5.3L, interior re-do and more

McG spindles and Leevon coils (stock cut 1 round). Back is just a flip bracket, and shock relocators with all stock leaves and stock shocks all around. Ride is incredible...better than stock.

Re: Project "Yetti" 87 GMC short bed

4.5/5. I'm considering taking a little more coil off the front too.

That turned out great! And I agree about the front, one more modest cut, then more pictures.

Finally closer to the pavement, just like it was meant to be. Looks good. Yeah I'd install the wheel gap eliminator up front like you are thinkin. Nothing wrong with a little rake.

See!
