Re: 6 Lug Rally Wheel Center Caps

same thing happened to me 67Mater, bought a set of 6 lug rally wheels and turns out 2 of them were 15 X 7s. fine by me,

trying to find a different kind of center cap to go into these wheels, any ideas?? leaning towards push through cap with straight bar spinner from Summit. not really first choice, but seems to be best looking right now and i think the wheels need something.

Re: 6 Lug Rally Wheel Center Caps

I just did some measureing and the lug nuts are 6 1/2 apart but you could snap a couple clips and snap a 7 1/2" cap on and be in a set of baby moons..for about $25 this is what I'm talking about

http://www.bigrigchromeshop.com/Merc.../UEHC/UP10201P

these are the horn covers I was thinking of notice the dimentions

http://www.bigrigchromeshop.com/Merc.../UEHCS/UP10301

for those not famliar with these there is an inner lip that snaps over the lug nut corners (sometimes you need to turn the lugs a bit to get them tight) but they stay very well I have run a dump truck though gravel pits and every where else without loosing them...

I think its going to look killer and make others scratch there head to see baby moons on a rally??Oh and in my case a 14" wide stock Rally but thats another post... but we will keep it our secret....!!!...LMAO

the pieces work but my wallet has been taking a beating so its kinda on hold till spring...we mocked the hole thing up with 2" drop spindles I think I may also try going to a hine joint to save on the ball joint convertion then I can also swap it so there is better steering angle

Re: 6 Lug Rally Wheel Center Caps

I'm running the later model center caps also like lolife99 and the rest mentioned. I'm using the 7/16" conversion lug nuts, and I also replaced the black lug nut covers with chrome ones, got them off ebay. I had the big 4x4 caps to start with didn't like them as much...

That's a good looking setup there ChevyLvr, I like the chrome lug conversion. To comment on the other part of this 6 lug rally thread, years ago I found and purchased a set of what I originally thought were 8's but they wound up being 7's and they came off of a mid 70's GMC 1500 4wd van. Mel

I found mine on ebay, I can't remember the seller's name, but he sells the 7/16" conversion lug nuts and the chrome lug nut covers as a set. I just found his name it's aaiautomotiveaccessories. He sell 2 different length lug nut covers for the trucks, make sure you get the longer ones. I bought the short ones and had to return them for the long ones.

Re: 6 Lug Rally Wheel Center Caps

Here's what my roommate did - these are off a 2002 or 03 chevy truck - you can get them in chrome also. Trick is you have to find lugnuts with a 7/16 shank and the threaded outer for the caps to screw on to.... those lugs may have come on newer Chevy cars like the maliboo and cavalier.

I almost went with the chrome version of those instead of what I got. They look good too.

Re: 6 Lug Rally Wheel Center Caps

Hi Keith, I scored a pair of 15x7, 6 lug, for my 68 stepside. Had to pay $300 - but it's worth it. Your '69 offset 7 & 8's look awesome! Do you have the low profile center cap? Like in the photo I attached. Thanks for your time, Bill. San Diego, CA

Yes,... those are what I have.
I found mine on ebay.
Also found the 7/16" conversion lug nuts with the outer threads for the plastic screw on covers.
The covers are what holds the center caps to the wheels.

Re: 6 Lug Rally Wheel Center Caps

Looks like everyone here is buying the 7/16" conversion lug nuts, correct? I'm looking at picking some up at the site below, but their application guide shows 1/2" lugs on the 2wd trucks. I tend to believe what I read here more than some random application guide, but thought I'd double check to make sure that I'd use 7/16" nuts on my 70 C10... If these don't look like the correct lug nuts, someone slap me upside the head before I order them! Thanks!!!

Re: 6 Lug Rally Wheel Center Caps

5-lug trucks are 1/2".
6-lug trucks are 7/16".

Those are the correct 7/16" lug nuts.
