Buddy Buckets

I love the buddy buckets! My new 67 project truck came in seatless. Hard to believe these seats are going for as much as they are, seems like there would be a reasonably priced aftermarket product. Wondering if there are any aftermarket bucket seats that highly resemble buddy buckets?

The best advice I have is the get acquainted with the parts for sale section of this board. That's how I found mine. Check it frequently and don't mess around about taking it - you're not the only one looking.

You can buy them Brand New if you got $2000 or better to spend which you very well may have that in old ones if you have to replace the foams . I priced mine at a swap meet and on MarketPlace at $1500 hoping for $1300 and mine are in nice shape .I was shocked at all the LowBall offers on them so I pulled the ad and refused the in person offers .

I have the originals in my 68,in very good condition.
I 've had many offers for them and as usual,it's the lowballers trying to buy them!They're not for sale and I do get tired of it.
I've been to the Moultrie,Ga.swap meet many times and have seen them there fairly often.Prices are all over the place!
The Dodge version are some cheaper if you can find them!

I had a guy at the swap meet that offered me $900 for mine and I told him no , I was not interested in a LowBall offer . He kept coming back and I gave the same answer everytime .He finally said he would come back at the end of the day and make me an offer .By then I had them covered up with a tarp .He asked if I was ready to sell them yet .I told him NO ,that I would build a truck around them before I took a Lowball offer . I now have new Blue Houndstooth covers for them for my next build .He had the nerve to be mad at me because I would not come down to his price .

Supply and demand must make them more valuable in some places and not so in others. This set of Dodge buddies have been for sale for at least 6 months. They started at a grand.

Ya'll need to remember they first became available in 66!

Those dodge seats look very similar. Another member posted this last night, $139 for this bucket seat with shipping, looks very similar to the buddy buckets
The second photo is just a stock photo I found, with some type of aftermarket base and middle seat seems like this could be done a lot cheaper

Maybe if you take a good look you'll see the Dodge and Chevy buddies are the same with just different foam/material that any upholstery shop can replicate . .Besides they ride like crap .

I have the Procar seats by Scat with a buddy console I picked up. Quite comfortable. Lots of choices for seat combo and seat frame bolts to stock mounting location.

I would like to know if anyone has actually bolted those Smittybilt seats to the original buddy bucket framework? I wonder if everything would line up or if modifications are required.

It's funny that you can buy an entire seat assembly shipped, cheaper than you can get just the foam for the buddy buckets.

Is the frame for buddy buckets that much different from the frame for the same year of bench seat? I'm pretty interested in this Smitty built option.

Also, wonder if Grumpy has a similar source for a close enough middle section...?

I have the Pro Car seats. Very well made. But you have to use their seat tracks and their seat brackets to mount to the cab. But not a bad looking at all.

I used junkyard seats from a Nissan Altima no less.... Airbags were blown and I think I paid $100 for them...

The wife sewed them up (where the side airbags had blown) and I fit them up. The rear holes required no changes, just the addition of an inboard hole on each side, and I bent the front holes to fit the slope of the drop-off on the floor. Pretty easy to do. I then removed the headrests when they were re-covered, and filled the airbag slots with extra foam.

While I don't have the center seat like you do with buddy buckets, I think they look pretty good anyway...

And they were extremely cost effective!

I bought mine for $700 off CL, he told me he post them here and no takers.
