1971 GMC Camper Special

I'm looking at a 71 GMC Camper Special. I've only had C10's. Anything in particular I should look at that's unique to a 20? It's a 402/400/AC/PS/PDB model. If it checks out I'll post some pics.

Nothing special over a C10 that I can think of, basically the same animal....

Agreed... they all rust the same.

If it has an Eaton rear axle... just know that parts for it other than brake shoes are near impossible to find.

The C20 3/4 tons were usually bought and used for heavier duty purpose. As a result, I haven't seen a lot of 3/4 tons that still had a (nice) original tailgate (or front bed panel)...most tailgates are beat to death or missing.
However...sometimes you get very lucky with a truck that the owner removed the tailgate and stored it while using the truck for camper purposes...those are great finds!
Also, the 3/4 tons tended to go through their original engines a little faster due to the same reasons...ie: heavy duty use, lower gearing, etc.
By all means post up some pics if you close the deal!

That was GREAT help! I looked at the truck today. It was a nice model: 402, 400, Dana 60, AC, passenger side tool box bed. But not the condition I was hoping for, for this particular project. Really want to thank you all for the input. The comments about how a 3/4 ton might have been used (harder!) than a 1/2 ton proved to be right on the money. The tailgate was pretty beat up!
