Radiator Swap In 5.3 Build
Has anyone ever used the newer radiator in a 5.3 swap? I have a complete 2002 donor truck with a 5.3 and 4l60. The radiator are really close on measurements and was wondering if I could save some money by using the donor trucks radiator. The swap is going into a 69 GMC, thanks.

I used an 08 escalade radiator and fan setup in my '72 suburban. I just modified the core support and had a nice radiator mount made out of sheet metal to bolt the top to. Works great in my opinion.

I used the stock 2000 model radiator in the swap I did for my son's truck. I went with electric fans since that is what he wanted, but could have used the stock clutch fan and shroud. I did modiy my core support but it did not take a bunch of work...

Did you fit the shroud before the electric fan install? I am a bit concerned how the shroud will fit.

I used the 2001 suburban with tow package radiator, modified the driver's side core support, cut the stock mounting ears off of the top, found some late 80's early 90's van upper radiator mounts that were longer and mounted it up. Used the 68 307v8 shroud and used the fan and fan clutch from the 2001. fan to shroud clearance is about 3/4. No overheating pulling a trailer, trans cooler out front NOT plumbed into radiator, coolant may see 204 degrees and trans stays at 155 degrees max, no regrets. Good luck, Brian F.
