Amazing Door popper remote latch!

I have seen people searching for door poppers on there before, threads started about what power latches to use, "solenoids" and what not.

These latches are the holy grail of hotrod and custom parts I am thinking!

I am working on a 2009 HHR and couldn't figure out how to open the rear doors then looked at the remote that looks like it's for a minivan with sliding doors. I hit the button and here is what happened.

Click on the image or on this link. http://vid200.photobucket.com/albums...psn5gw5wkd.mp4

The latch opens AND pops the door out!

It's damn small measuring 5.5 inches tall and 2.5 wide and 2.5 deep.

They aren't cheap at $182 and $162 new, but maybe used?

Talk among yourselves.

Re: Amazing Door popper remote latch!

Good idea Brian. I've opened the door on the HHR panel before and never even thought about door poppers. Is the cable a remote manual release?

I did it with the remote, just push the button and the latch releases and "pops" the door open too.

Re: Amazing Door popper remote latch!

I'm thinking the rear door on an HHR might be a wee'bit lighter than the doors on the AD.

Still a cool find though.
I'm dreading figuring out my door latch situation.

Could the stock door handle on an AD be modified to work with that cable?

My daughter has an 09 HHR but it doesn't have those on it as far as I know. Slick setup that should be reliable.

Re: Amazing Door popper remote latch!

pretty slick latch setup, especially if it pushes the door open
it's a little thick to use on the 55-59 trucks with the window track right there in the way
but it looks small enough and easy enough to go in the door frame

Yep, that looks like the one. Note that it says "without windows," that would be the different latch than the ones with windows.

I wonder how much room there is there?
