Re: Latest Obsession; 1972 2WD Blazer.

Got the call today saying stainless brake lines are in, not bad - 6 weeks from order date. Prolly either a pearl ruby red or that Lambourghini(?) orange pearl paint, guess I should start flingin sand at the frame first. Gotta do a '68 GMC for my "last" customer over the winter as well; his grampy bought it new, maybe I'll post some shots of it as well-we all like pictures of these trucks!

I'm sure everyone here understands my perma-grin when I say I was able to spend some time on MY junk for a change! After 7 hours of undercoat scrapin and a little blastin & paintin.......

Very nice! Looks great! I remember that feeling when I got my frame painted and stepped back. It was a lot of work but totally worth it!

Looks really good - I have never had to clean a frame like that - looks like a lot of work - but it also looks awesome when done.

Re: Latest Obsession; 1972 2WD Blazer.

Anybody know if I need to change my new pitman arm to fit a newer power steering box(1987ish)? I have ps now but would like a quicker ratio unit and am unsure of sector shaft diameters.

Re: Latest Obsession; 1972 2WD Blazer.

Well, we're on all 4's again; possied and braked but waiting on ss fuel lines(stupid 2wd Blazer stuff nobody carries and has to order and takes 22 years to arrive!), when that happens I'll clean and mount the tank, run lines, install shock re-locators and adjustable panard bar. Motor assembly has begun; rotating assy anyway. I'd like to install motor/trans before the body 'cause I'm using new headers that differ from the old rusty ones and modify the current decent exhaust to fit(easier without the tub on). This may not work out as I might need to put a Dart on my rotissery before my plan comes together. As much as I hate removing 1/4 inch of undercoating you can't deny how nice it is to see a factory painted floor underneath.

Re: Latest Obsession; 1972 2WD Blazer.

I got a little sumpin-sumpin done recently; decided to put l&r rockers on 'cause you never know for sure what's in there till ya look and the right side had a 2 1/2" rust through already. The inners are good, boxes are perfect but the w/strip must've held some crap long enough to rot the 90 degree step behind it; no sweat, cutting it out allowed me to peek inside. I filled 25 or so holes in the firewall and capped the gutter after cutting the hump above the motor to make it smooth all the way across.

Re: Latest Obsession; 1972 2WD Blazer.

I also fabbed up my marker light fuel door hinge and bought a little billet gas cap/1 3/4 weld in bung for a bike tank to weld to the 1 1/2 fill tube(yet to do). Also got the floors box-lined and hope to mount the body to the frame this week end, just have to do fuel lines and e-brake stuff.

Nice to see at least one Alberta Blazer is getting worked on. Hopefully I can get the crew cab done soon so I can get going on mine.

Re: Latest Obsession; 1972 2WD Blazer.

I had a pretty good weekend; couldn't wait on a fuel line kit any longer so I ran some 3/8's tubing and mounted the gas tank(now I can finish the fill tube), dropped the body on the frame and mocked up the brake stuffs. I found out that later model master cylinders swap front and rear line locations (I hate flaring brake lines with my poor excuse for a tube flare kit!!).

Re: Latest Obsession; 1972 2WD Blazer.

For 4 inch drop coils in the rear, it sits alarmingly high in the keester. Hhmmm.

That does seem high for 4" drop....are you sure you aren't binding on something keeping it from going all the way down?

do all 2wd blazers use springs in the rear? I just noticed that the green blazer has a canadian package, I wonder what that was?
