How rare?

Got offered what was told a fairly rare truck here in Canada.
1976 SWB. 350 4speed 12 bolt. Silverado package, woodgrain interior and has factory tach cluster. Typical rust areas. See, up here most were long boxes designed for work trucks. This one seems like it was more of a sports truck from the get go. Any thoughts?

Re: How rare?

More pictures and a picture of the RPO list in the glove box would help.

Re: How rare?

Not rare.

Ours was identical, except black.

Where I come from farmers buy short wheelbase trucks because they mostly pull trailers rather than hauling big things in the bed.

Re: How rare?

In Alberta, Canada any Chev shortbox is kind of rare, and this one looks like a fairly good example.

Most Shortboxes sold here were stripper models: 250 with a three on the tree: I have two of those. I would have guessed that yours was one of those that was converted to a V8 with four on the floor, but with the Silverado package and factory tach I would guess that yours is original... unless someone has just dressed it up as a Silverado. That happens, too.

Be very interesting to see the RPO code. Alberta is such a truck province and people are really hungry for squarebodies. Depending upon the price you wouldn't have much trouble selling it if you decided you didn't want it after a while.

Re: How rare?

It’s funny how things vary from one area to another. Up here it was rare to see a square body short box as farm or work truck. Box wasn’t big enough, most farmers around here got short boxes once club/super cabs became popular & then crewcab short box.
