I've already been up under there looking at the current notches. I think I can get the welds cut nicely and should be able to salvage the whole setup to sell to someone else wanting 7" drop with AOL spring helpers. It is really a nice setup if you want a low static drop and still be able to haul about anything you want
Let me know. I may be interested in the notch and bag mounts if you can save it. That setup is handy beyond belief. I hauled a pallet (80 bags) plus 20 bags of mulch with it. I aired up the bags at Home Depot, then went around to load it. An F250 took a pallet right before me and it squatted bad. The guys didn't want to load mine, and they kind of freaked when it hardly squat. I had to explain that my truck was just freakishly awesome.

Yep. Sure does.

I have a tailgate handle around here for you, and a socket I found in the parts I got from you. I just need to get a little ambitious and send it out.

Re: 1974 SWB "Clifford" goes to Oklahoma

Recieved all of the Porterbuilt trailing arm conversion today and got my Accuair E-level a couple of weeks ago. Should get to start on the truck first part of December. I am a little confused as some of the parts I got look a little different than what is pictured on his website. I know he updates his designs from time to time though so I am sure that is what it is. I will continue to update as I make progress.

Re: 1974 SWB "Clifford" goes to Oklahoma

Well, time to do an update. I said earlier that the rear suspension I received didn't look quite right. After some back and forth with Porterbuilt we figured out they had sent me a trailing arm kit for a 63-72 C10. No big deal as I wasn't ready for it yet anyway. Sent everything back and they built me another kit. I just got a tracking number on it so it should be here in a few days. The rest of my air managment system also shipped today so I should have everything I need soon. I went ahead and started tearing the truck down in anticiption of the kits arrival. Here is a pic, boring, but shows progress. lol

Also working on a side project with this. I will post up pics when it is done.

Curious if any 'insurance' welds were broken? It was a PITA when I was trying to weld them that day. The wind just wouldn't cooperate despite my cardboard shields & such.

Absolutley not, that was the most over engineered C-Notches in the history of C-Notches. They were a PITA to get off and not mess them or the frame up. I managed to do it though with alot of patience. Don't take that as a bad thing. I think everone should do them that way.

I was just reviewing my latest template w/n2billet yesterday for a part I'm building for my dually. I was going to drop by his place & let him see the 3D cardboard template I had made in person & review my material choices (I always try to bounce my ideas off my peers to ensure I'm not overlooking something). His text reply was "if you're doing it then it's strong enough.... You're the overkill king LoL".

Safety is a priority on any mods I do since your families are also on the road beside me.

On another note.... One of my buddies sent me a text w/an instagram link for the 74 last night. I told him the stuff I was waiting on from PB when I had the truck was actually being done by the current owner. I referred him to this thread.

Re: 1974 SWB "Clifford" goes to Oklahoma

I have always liked this truck since Scoti had it even though I have never seen it in person.

You have done the exact front kit set up I did for my son's truck. The only thing different is the brakes and I raised the stock crosmember in the frame 1.5" and added No Limit's Power Rack conversion. I have not installed the Sway bar yet. My end link spaces are MUCH longer then the ones in your photos. I hope to get it installed some time this week. I will post of pictures on his build thread when we get it done.

Aggie91, I will probably end up doing the power rack on mine one day. Please let me know how you like it.

Scoti, What do you mean by an instagram link? Not sure what that is.

I'm not a follower on instagram (I admit 100% I'm a neanderthal when it comes to tech trends) so not sure how you access pics & stuff. One of my buddys sent me an instagram link on my cell last night of the truck. The pics were from when I had it (several pics of it when I put a set of grey Coys on it). I think they were posted by N2TRUX??

These were a couple of them....

Yes sir. That was when the ralleys got swapped on.

The 18/20 TT2's I originally put on it were getting bald on the rear so I needed new tread to keep driving. I didn't want to do the 18/20 combo any more & had the 20" Coys for my 68 just sitting in a corner. So.... I popped them on to see how I liked the look. It was pretty sharp but 1 trip made the decision toward the 15's as I couldn't even drive down the alley @ 10mph w/o the front tires buzzing the tops of the inner fender wells (shorter tires 27" on the 15's).

I drove it to the local cruise/burger joint (Kellers) w/the Coy's & off they came the next morning.

Awesome looking truck. Maybe I missed it, but were the slot mags for sale? They'd look killer on my '72 ochre/white LWB.

Re: 1974 SWB "Clifford" goes to Oklahoma

Finally got everything in, I have an email into Porterbuilt for a few measurements of where to place the front crossmember and I should be ready to get started. Going to have to do a little frame "repair" where the cut outs for the old notches were as the Porterbuilt ones are a different shape and go about 3/4" further forward. (I assume since the truck will lay lower and because the axles moves forward in its arch of movement) I made templates out of cardboard and transferred them to 3/16" steel plate which turned out to be the perfect thickness on my frame. Will hopefully get them welded in by a friend this weekend. Here is my pile "O" parts. Have everything from the trailing arm kit, to e level, tanks, and compressors. Should be everything to get it back on the road ASAP.
