327 distributer drive issue?

I have a something strange going on with the engine. I have just built a 327 circa 1967, for a truck, I have fitted a 350 oil pump, and drive.350 chevy distributer The intake manifold is an Edelbrock eps, for a 350 chevy. The oil pump drive shaft just touches the end of the distributer, and has not got enough length the locate into the hole to drive the oil pump? distributer is tight down on the manifold.
Is this something strange to the 327 as I have never encountered this before,
I have read there is a chevy 2 oil pump, but the shaft is shorter? so it should be the same set up as I have,The distributer length is the same as the 283 and another 350 chevy I have,
can anyone help

Hard to tell with out the parts out and checking the pump and the shaft to see what one is the problem. Did you put the oil pump shaft on the pump with the plastic retainer and install them as a assembly?

Re: 327 distributer drive issue?

the all steel ones are longer because of the coupler that goes over the pump shaft. no nylon coupler.
