I Must have missed the conversion to SWB. Did you shorten the frame or replace it with one from a SWB.

Re: Raymond

We have had a tough week with the truck... Chris had a tech working on all the wiring and mechanical for the truck... This guy was relatively new to the shop but came with great credentials... Well Not so much... Just about everything he did was hosed up so they have spent literally all week and 4 guys working on it solid just chasing problems... Friday (9/23/16) they finally got all that wrapped up and was ready for the final thing and that was to figure out why the transmission tail shaft was leaking (thinking it was just the tail shaft seal)... Well hell no... it wasn't that easy...

Come to find out the company that build me aluminum driveshaft put a TH350 yoke on it instead of the TH400... Well Chris spent almost 4 hours calling all over the place looking for a TH400 yoke and finally found one about 5:00pm... got it to the shop to find out that yoke was for a long tail shaft and this is a short tail shaft... Well the modifications began and got the yoke to fit then started to stuff the shaft to find out that the difference in the shaft with the new yoke and U-joints made the shaft appx 3/4" to long so it just shut them down trying to get it ready to come home Friday night... By the time they got all that done it was almost 9:00 so there was no way to get it back to Inland to get the shaft shortened... So Monday they will send the shaft back over to be taken care of...

I should be able to get the truck but Mid Week...

Chris was trying really hard to make it to where I could get the truck to a good size car show here in my immediate area (appx 800 cars)... Well there is always later... I thank Chris Carlson's Hot Rods for trying their best to make that happen...

This is 2 weekends in a row that I missed out on shows that were of great importance to me but that is the was crap goes when you do a complete frame off and MAJOR modifications... It just takes time to get the bugs worked out...

Re: Raymond

Well it seems every build has the little glitches that pop up all the time so don't get discouraged, there will be more car shows. Exhaust dumps too, man they have come a long way from when we had to go unbolt the plate.

Re: Raymond

We are edging ever closer to Raymond Rolling down the road... We finally got it to shift... According to the transmission shop it wasn't making enough vacuum... It was making appx 6lbs at idol and it needs a minimum of 12lbs... the have that fixed ...

We have a couple of other little issues for drivability... the truck under acceleration literally noses over at about 40 mph and stumbles really hard... I have to feather it alot then it comes back alive and if you slowly accelerate then it will go ahead and run on up... It also idles extremely high and seems to be running extremely rich... I just need to get with Allan Patterson and have them look at it...
We need to get the frontend really aligned... It is Towed in pretty good and at speed it shakes like no tomorrow... Just have to figure that out... I am pretty sure it is in the alignment...

Head lights work but the park/turn lights have some issues...

Just a few minor things at this point until I can actually do a proper drive out... ... I think it sits just a little high in the butt... Once we get it rolling down the road good I am going to drop the back of it 1"-1.5"... This is a 7" rear drop and a 5.5" front drop... I have to say it does ride very nice...

Re: Raymond

Looks nice! The stumbling issue sounds like something I've experienced on an old 283 15+ years ago. It turned out to be a vacuum leak between the carb and intake. It also idled high in park or neutral, but when put in gear it dropped pretty low.

Thanks Duane... We have the stumbling fixed now but it is running real "FAT" now... Just blows smoke out of the pipes continuously... I really need a chassis Dyno...

Re: Raymond

Well Dan. You've gone and done it now. You have over built this truck. It has reached trailer queen level. The underside is just too pretty to actually drive it. The thought of detailing it so well and then take a chance of getting road grime and rock chips under there is just too risky. Ya'll have done awesome work top to bottom. Congrats on this build man.
I agree it needs a bit of leveling yet. Maybe bring the front up that 1 1/2"?

Yeah it was a blast cruising this weekend... we got a total of about 300 miles on it this weekend... We debuted it at the C-10 BBQ in Wichita yesterday... My wife even drove it to meet me in Park City Yesterday... So she drove it about 70 miles herself... LOL
