Re: 47 Step van

Oldman3, the main gauges are dolphin brand and the air ride are air lift brand.

99 to life, thank you.

Tomorrow I will get the steering back together now that everything is painted. I also want to mount the pro portioning valve and finish up the brake lines. I will have pictures tomorrow.

Re: 47 Step van

I made the rear master cylinder mount because there was some flex in it. Then I mounted the pro portioning valve. After that I made my brake lines to where I did not finish when I did the frame. I had bought a blue point flare kit and it works great if anybody is looking for a good one. I then put the steering all back together. I only thing I had to put in is the steering column. I was able to put the wheel well back in too.

This is a very cool build with lots of impressive fabrication too! What ever happened to the 6 cylinder?

Re: 47 Step van

Shannon what size step die do use on your floor pans and gauge of metal? Your work looks fantastic. Another question do you have any issues with putting a bead in a transmission tunnel then running it through the slip roll to give a curve. Thanks for the tips you give and the work you do.

Re: 47 Step van

wickid demon, I made both 1/8 and 3/16 step dies for my bead roller. On my steel floored projects I use .o60, or 16 gauge. This truck is aluminum and is 14 gauge or .080 thick. Big thing in doing it is making to tight of a radius, because it wants to drag on the edge of the die and shears the corner. I use the lid from the smaller coffee cans for the template for my corners. On the tranny tunnels, when you put it in the slip rolls it does flatten out the indented part but the line from the bead roller is still there. No problem on the tips, always glad to help everyone.

Re: 47 Step van

_Ogre, haha, it was nice when you could post 5 pictures at once. Now with the resized photobucket one sometimes you can not even do two.

48 GMC BURB, thank you, that is right you did have the engine and tranny.

Well nothing done on the truck outside in the driveway because it was like high of 15 degrees today. I am so over this cold snowy weather, and spring can not come soon enough. So I was working on some stuff inside my heated garage. The truck was missing the side cowl. So I made an air scoop for it. It will have a sliding closer in the inside of the cab so that the fresh air will be able to come it. I still have to cut out the hole on the back side but other than that the outside is done except for a little sanding.

Wickid demon, thank you.

Oldman3, thank you. I still have to mount it. I used some duct tape on the back to hold it there. Had to see how it looked.
