New Ball Joint Install Questions

Been searching for a little and couldn't quite find an answer so I guess I'll go ahead and pose a question.

I'm replacing all my ball joints on my '70 2wd C10, stock drums up front so stock style LBJ & UBJ.

How do I press these onto the spindle? Do I just torque the castle nut to spec and they go into place? I know they are tapered in, so how do I get them completely 'seated' I guess you could say.

First time working on IFS & ball joints, so I'm very new to this.

Also - how do I grease the lower ball joint (since there's no grease port)? Do I just cover the ball joint in grease and add the rubber boot?

Sorry for so many questions, I just know how important good ball joint installation is and wanted to make sure I do this once, not multiple times fixing my carelessness..

Re: New Ball Joint Install Questions

I suggest searching Youtube for videos.
There are a ton of them that explain the entire process.

Re: New Ball Joint Install Questions

now I did this on my 72 so not sure if it is the same for your 70. The top ones bolted in and your torque to spec. The bottom ones I hammered out then to get in I rented a press from advance.
