Haha, thanks mate, id like to say our coffee is stronger down under, the truth is its been on going for two years now, only now I have decided to kick it in the guts. Before it ends up on the shelf like my other projects. Also no wife, no kids = free time.

Hahaha.... yea its always good to look at a guys 'scrap pile' .... "testing parts" is always the most costliest part of a build! .... really nice work there, looks great for all the hours put into it.

Here it is all mounted. Got the rear curb weight of the truck, took off 220 pound for the 9". Minus 150 for rims and tires, that left about 616 lbs or 308 lbs per spring.. (140kg) so i layed a spring out on the ground, loaded 100kg of old batterys on the spring and measured the change in height. Stood on the spring as well, and measured that. Set the spring height based on the loaded weight guestimate and voila. Your impressed by my mathmatical ineptitude right? Redneck calculator rocks.

ALRIGHT, after a day of stuffing about on the truck (instead of working) I finally got her off the frame table, so happy to see it at ground level. Luvin the ride height. Although I cant get the wheel in or out with the fender on. But damn it looks good

So I guess its about 6 inch drop on the rear, and 5 inch in the front. Floor board is 5.7" off the deck.

Time for a little motor TLC, this is my late 2004 GTO LS1 DBW 50,000 mls. Getting a good degrease, pressure wash, acid treatment, etc. masking up for painting in satin black high temp .

After about half a day prep and masking all the bolt heads for a professional looking job, it came out great. As with all bare alloy that has been subjected to weather and oil, its never going to be like new, but the more effort you put in now the longer it will keep its appearance. I know it will turn to crap later, but its my shop truck, so much to do, gotta keep moving forward.

Next job was to drop the front sump out and fit a rear sump from a hummer, turns out that f@cker is really deep and hangs a little low, so later I will swap it for a Camaro one. But here it is painted and mounted anyway.
The dip stick no longer feeds through the pan, and there is a hole in the block just forward of the starter, you can knock the plug out with a punch, there is no step or shoulder, just tap straight thru.
Note.... If you use the Hummer sump, the lower bell housing to sump bolt hole on the right will be out. So no bolt going in that. And dont forget to seal the 4 corners on the pan gasket where the seams are on the block. Or they will leak
