Another suspension thread: IFS and 4-link questions

We have pretty much narrowed down our our 51' in the chassis dept to an IFS and 4-link rear coilover setup. Prevailing opinions have led us down the road of spending a few more dollars over the basic MustangII front parts and rear leaf spring kit, especially given we are gonna have 345hp, 380 ft out of a 6.0 LQ9 hitting the ground.

Were sticking with the original frame and i would like the least amount of alteration to it as possible.

1. We have narrowed our choices down to TCI Coil-over IFS and coil-over 4 link rear or NO LIMIT Road Glide IFS coil-over and Fat-bar 4 link rear coilover. Any general opinion on pros/cons to either? Adjustablility?

2. How low can we get with a 4 link rear without altering/notching the frame?

3. I see 4 links setup inside and outside the frame....some bolt in and some weld in. Any better than the rest?

4. Have we overlooked a better* choice for suspension kits? (BETTER = quality parts, geometry/fit, ease of instillation, adjustability)

Sounds like you have a great project!

On my black truck we used a triangulated four link fabricated from suicidedoorsdotcom components and it worked well.

The 48 Suburban we are building now has a parallel four link with the link control arms to the outside of the frame. They do interfere with the rear running board mount so I will have to relocate that forward.

Neither truck has a kick up, just a C notch in the frame. The truck is aired out and the Suburban is at approximate ride height.

Any particular recommendations for rear axle besides the Explorer 8.8? Would like to have 5x4.75 with disc brakes and posi.

I got mine for $175 and $60 for a second short axel as I am narrowing it to tuck in the tires. For the price you just can't beat it plus they are indestructible.

I'm using the no limit fat bar 4 link in the rear, but with different coil over brackets and an adjustable panhard bar mount. I'm very pleased with the kit overall. I think it COULD be bolted on to the frame but I welded it

I'm using the heidt ifs and a combo of Posies 3" drop leaves and 2" blocks. I'd like it lower. The truck sits dead level and is about 5" of total drop. I could do a 2" drop spindle up front, but I believe that more than an inch more in the the rear would need a notch.

Fwiw, I'm running a 350 with a decent cam and intake and a th350 behind it. No problem with axle wrap.
