Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

Went on an awesome pic today, put the smack down on a 64 suburban with 4 sliders. One bit of bad news i got too excited and I killed a flawless PPG original windshield. I was cutting the gasket out and pulling, then I pulled a bit too far without cutting and it put too much stress on the glass. If I didn't get so many awesome parts if jump off a bridge, I still may that glass was like brand new!!!

Done a little sanding and priming on the cowl piece and one upper fender corner. Got on the phone and landed a decent 62 grill assembly.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

After doing a lot of prep work on my original PS door shell, the PS got a new full door skin today. Let's just say that this was A LOT OF HARD WORK! I envy the guys who can afford a brand new door.I still need to tweek a few areas and skim some body filler in a few places.

id rather have the skills, over the money to pay for new parts. save that money for other parts and still have the part. plus i could teach another person or apply skills to just bout any thing life tosses my way, but i hear ya driving is much better then bodywork!!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

Found this little guy at a small flea market. Anybody know anything about it? I couldn't really find any info on it online. Everything I did find was on vw bug sites though.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

So far ,primed the cowl piece again. Got the last two exhaust hangers loose. Got the trans linkages loose, speedo cable loose and the rear mounts loose. Got all wiring loose from the starter, choke cable loose. Motor is just sitting now ready to come out. Hopefully got somebody coming to get it tomorrow. Then I can get the cab off and make some real progress.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III

I quickly removed all paint right down to the bare metal using a HF poly carbide disc on my grinder. I did the front side of this door panel in 20 minutes. I'll use a wire sheel to get the thin flange around the edge and the screw holes. The tailgate was next. I have an original patch piece to repair the bottom right section where the trunion goes.
