Tie Downs in bed?

I was getting ready to redo the inside of my bed.

I was wondering if anyone has tried to add tie downs to there bed similar to what a new truck has?

Pics would be good

Thanks

Re: Tie Downs in bed?

Maybe not what you're after but GM offered accessory tie-downs that slip into the stake pockets...

Re: Tie Downs in bed?

sboris,

Where did you find these?

I was thinking of something similar but replace some of the bed to floor bolts with these so that the points will be lower in the bed. This would also allow them to be removed if needed in the future.

Re: Tie Downs in bed?

The eye bolts in the floor are a neat idea! Would that work for a stepside bed? I'm trying to find a tie-down option that doesn't involve drilling into the metal bed walls.

Good idea. Will help to keep stuff from scratching up the floor. Post a link for those please.

Re: Tie Downs in bed?

I filled the smashed stake holes in mine , but added threaded inserts in each corner before filling , then the same in the bottom four corners , each a 3/8 long nut , welded to a floor cross member below , and the side of the pocket up top.Did it again in my 68 gmc , Won't even think twice about doing it to the 69 I'm doing this winter. I'll take pics later if you would like - Bob

Excellent thread! I like a good looking truck but nothing I own is for "show only." Even my competition pistols must be "combat ready."

Re: Tie Downs in bed?

I used some U bolts from ACE as tie downs.
Had to remove the tail lights and use a Universal, as well as a crows foot to get the nuts threaded down.
A little like building a ship in a bottle.
Cost 5 bucks, and took about two beers.
I don't normally drag up old threads, but there was a lot of good ideas on this one.

Re: Tie Downs in bed?

I'm impressed with your wrenching ingenuity..I may have to give up on the duck taping a wrench to paint stick......More than a few hrs making these, channel from scrap yard, enough for 4 tie downs and a spare tire mount.

Glad you did! This work of yours gave me an idea how to install more tie downs in my dad's "new-2-him" Canyon he bought last week. It needs six more tie downs.

Re: Tie Downs in bed?

I found these really cool stainless tie downs at;
https://www.etrailer.com/Tie-Down-An...ms/RS84FR.html

They are removable and the receiver is close to flush when removed.

Agree. The "marine" pieces are a nice fit.

I have design/release responsibility for the K2XX pickup box so I'm gettin' a kick out of this thread.
