rear end binding

hello guys the other day decide to take my 75 up to the mountains went to back up and turn at the same time my truck locked up then when I went forward it was clicking in the rear then it stopped I didn't see anything wrong that was on the weekend today I was driving straight at it started again then stopped any ideas what it might be? I check my brakes there good thanx

does it happen to have one of those Richmond locker assemblies that fit inside of the stock carrier if so those are a ratcheting type locker and they tend to make a loud clicking sound during sharp turns most noticeable when backing up at least that's what the one in my friends Toyota would do and that is what the mechanic said it should do

Its all pretty much stock 4 wheel drive I had it in 2 wheel when it happen

They'll start popping and clicking when the spider gears fail. Pop the cover. If it were locker behavior you'd have noticed before now.

Spider gear? I was checking the gear oil and notice it was more chocolate looking then it should be going to get a new gasket check it while I got it out thanx
