Bag recommendation

'63 C10 LWB. Currently static dropped 4.5/7.5, 3" notch.

Will Schrader/bag rear only. Looking for a bag that will ride nice that is not too bouncy as the rear will ride mostly at one low ride height. Firestone 255c, D2600's, others?

Thx

Re: Bag recommendation

If you are putting them in the stock spring position then any double convoluted bag should be fine. An 8'' bag will be softer. If you plan on riding low and don't want a lot of bouncing look into a shock relocation kit and good shocks as that will have more effect on ride quality than your bag.

Re: Bag recommendation

How was the rear drop achieved?
What type of rear suspension set-up do you have?

This info plays a part in recommending rear bags in a specific application.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: Bag recommendation

Thanks guys...

Trailing arm suspension, 6" spring, 1" block, 1/4" of panhard bar mount, 6deg pinion wedge.

Will go to a 2" block when bagged. Have already relocated shocks.

That set-up would work well w/a 6" or 7" dbl convoluted bag. The smaller diameter bag would get you closer to optimal pressures (as suggested by the bag mfr's).

That would be Slams RE-6 (or current equivalent) or Firestones 267c/F6781. The 7" bags (or larger) would work but pressure would be very low (30psi or so) which will impact ride quality. I found that when I used the 7" bags on my 68 that was set-up similar to what you have (1.5" blocks, bolt-in c-sections w/no bump stops, relocated shocks, aftermarket Panhard bar) that the ride was too bouncy. I swapped to a taller block & 6" bags. This required more psi for the same height desired which yielded better ride quality.

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.
