Windshield Repair

The windshield on my Burb has a chip in it from a rock. It also has crack about six inches long caused by this. Do the windshield repair places work?? What would they normally charge??

I don't think it can be repaired if it has a crack.I think they can repair bullseyes, and only if it is in the top layer.I just had a windshield put in my blazer last week.It was 250.00 installed.

out here in southern california you can get a new windshield installed for under $150. That would be your best bet. cracks are not repairable but, chips, bullseyes, and small spyder cracks under the diameter of a quarter are repairable. I had one done on my silverado for $40.

I had to spend that much on the glass and new rubber. Then I would still have to install it!I thought 250 was pretty good to not have to worry about anything happening.

Cracks CAN be repaired by a properly trained tech, BUT, on our windshields it isn't worth the time involved due to the price of the glass-very reasonably priced compared to $600- $2000 for some new vehicle glass.
