MY promise to this Forum,

Holding my right hand up ----

I promise not to post a help question to the forum before searching the past threads!! I promise to do my search first and post later if i can't find what i am looking for!

I got my truck running, FINALLY i can get it out of my garage and start her re-store in a well lit warm warehouse.

I got my truck running only after searching the old posts and comming up with the correct firing order of a 359 and its distributor. Apparently i mixed up the wires on the distributor and once corrected it fired right up and runs better than it ever has.

Thank you forum and I promise to follow the rules of the forum and to try make it even better than i found it. Isn't that the montra of re-storing a classic anyway?!

I can't even begin to tell you (and the board) how many times I have gotten help here.

I also try to be helpful when I can because this is by far the best board out there.

But i would imagine that the senior forum members get a bit tired of seeing the same simple questions posted when these question have been asked and answered many times over, when just simple search of the question is all that one needs to do to find the answer. After finding my answer and taking my laptop to my engine bay and following the firing order chart i felt stupid that i asked such a dumb question and posted it as if it was the utmost importance.

i'm learning many things but one thing important is i'm learning how the forum works best.

I agree that you should search, but don't feel bad about asking an old question again. There may be others with the question that just havn't gotten around to asking it, and seeing it as a recent post they may read it and you would be helping them too. There may be new ways to fix old problems too.
The FAQ section is also a great place to look. Krue has that set up with an index that is very easy to use.

I don't feel that asking a question that has already been asked is a bad thing. Maybe if the same question is 3 post down then you may want to read that first. Anyway, I always see new people on here and maybe they didn't get a chance to chime in the last time a question was posted. It never hurts to revisit a subject sometimes and maybe get a new outlook on the problem. There is lots of knowledge out there in peoples heads and the only way we get to it is to ask. And for the most part, the people on here don't miss any chance to talk about their truck.

Why are you even posting this?

There is no reason not to ask, even if it has been asked 59709382609236 x.. half the time search doesn't work for crap and I rarely see anyone say anything about questions.. if they do the "senior" members step in and explain how it works around here.. respect, help and well just ask your questions............

next -

-new painless wire harness
-yank the motor to have the valves, rings and see why its bogging down when i accelerate hard
-new sanderson headers and not sure what exhaust.
-replace rockers and floor boards
-pullout the bedliner and re-store the wood bed thats in it.

thats it for this winter.

I also have asked ?'s and found some threads on the same subject later. All of them have been very helpful, I have found a wealth of info on this forum. I have also become addicted to the forum, reading all threads reguardless of the subject. I can always stand to learn a little something more. Greg

oh and a new fuel cell and front disc brakes so i'll feel safer when my little girl rides with me. the first time i had to brake hard with my drum fronts i ended up in the median of the highway on purpose because i would have ended up in the front seat of the car in front of me. damn that was scary. so discs for me before spring.

No dumb questions.If fact they are all smart to ask.Even if it's been asked before it may lead to a better FAQ or clarification on something.It also gives some of the (uhhhhhmmmm) More experienced(That's an OK term right?) people a chance to show off their knowledge,thereby making us feel useful and therefor worthwhile since we are still contributing members of society.

Ask your'e questions, if someone remembers a previous thread on a similar or exactly the same subject... they will most likely point you that direction.

My question is... when did chevy start making a 359? Grin!

EXACTLY!!!!!! Its sometimes hard to look through 10 pages of FAQ's, to find out someone els is doing exactly the same thing you are and has the answer.

The forum is great, lots of informed people who really DO NOT care how many questions are asked or how many times they are asked. Look at the number of posts of some of the older members like Longhorn, 52000 plus posts, I bet you 95% of the posts are helping others out,.

Looking for the answer on your own is good, however,
with the amount of fresh blood on here at any given time, some one will have a new way to go about something, that no one else has ever thought of. Even the questions that are asked and reasked... like the 700 R4 questions, or disk brakes up front, or fuel tank out back... those may be the 3 most asked questions... followed by a "why won't my truck start"...with minimal info given.

Never feel like a tool for asking what may seem like a simple question. Some ppl will look past the real question, and even though we may be wrong, it'll give you something to look into as for WHY you have this question.

I have answered alot of repeat questions and have asked alot of repeat questions. We are all here to help each other out. We combine all of our knowledge to help. Ask all the questions you want and we will try are best to answer them.

Yup, I've been here for quite some time now, and I've done both. It doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I'm a member of another board, that shall remain nameless... when someone asks a repeat question, instead of people helping out they get posts like this:

Use the search button...

Here we go again....

That question has been asked a billion times.....

This happens in A LOT of threads.

My thoughts on people who respond like that.... either answer the frickin question or don't post at all....

One thing I love about this place is that in the two years or so I've been here (and I've read A LOT of threads) I've read maybe 3 or 4 jackass "use the search button" responses...

So yea, this place
