Poll: New Forum - Transport Available
Not sure of the exact title yet, but a place where members of all forums can post an upcoming road trip where they would be willing to transport items for other members. This could be door to door or just drop off, for later pickup, at another willing member's location.
I always post when I go on trips, but it is hard to know which forums to post it in - not wanting to clutter them all. Basically the title would probably include the from and to locations and date(s). Poster would state things like: 1) how much room they have and which directions, 2) would it be for a set fee or just donations towards gas (may depend on whether it is out of their way or not) size, etc. - or maybe even payment in parts.

Re: Poll: New Forum - Transport Available
Call the Forum or Sub Forum "Hauling"
would also be useful for people needing stuf hauled I think there should be an agreed on format for the title, to make it easy to determine what the post is. and a Sticky explaining the format and requirements . title should start with, Need or Available followed by the starting point and destination. For Example: Need: Minneapolis to St Louis Available: NYC to San Diego 8/15/07 Short and sweet, No Clutter

Re: Poll: New Forum - Transport Available
I think its a great idea, my only suggestion would be treat it just like the for sale forums, that you must be a supporter to collect money for transport, this will keep out people just placing ads for a business w/o vender fees. if its a barter or a one-time thing, then maybe a differnt story..?

Looks like you're poll is doing well for the YES side. I posted a link in the 67-72 parts forum so maybe you'll get some more votes.

Re: Poll: New Forum - Transport Available
Ron and I have considered doing this also, I think it's a good idea because
you could potentially even get parts "Daisy Chained" across the country if you get enough Members involved and willing to help each other out

Re: Poll: New Forum - Transport Available
I like it. I was going to head to Denver next week for my sisters graduation. I was planning on offer to haul up there and back with my trailer but I am not going to make it.
Like you said though, I had no idea where to post the trip.

Re: Poll: New Forum - Transport Available
This sounds like a great idea, I know I was looking at a cab in IA and posted in the regions section trying to find someone to bring it at least part of the way for me but it would have been alot better having a forum for nothing but parts running. Plus I am in the process of finding a decent cab so someone to run a cab from the west coast to KY would be really nice right now anyway I threw in my vote for, hope many others do the same.

I voted yes. I don't think it will be a heavily used forum, but I hope I am wrong. I think it is a good idea.

I like the idea, but site supporter only I dont know about.. I understand this board has to stay alive and ultimately upto admin. Maybe make it that only the available is for site supporters but that any memeber can post a need. That way some shmuch cant just come on here trying to make money and members risk loosing thier parts. Another forum I am on has the same type of message board, of course its a military vehicle board and most have 2.5ton and up so it makes it a bit easier to haul.. Still a good idea though

Re: Poll: New Forum - Transport Available
Once my Jimmy is done maybe I can help out on the right coast, I have access to a trailer. Wouldn't mind taking day trips to help out board members or anyone for that fact. J.
I voted YES

Re: Poll: New Forum - Transport Available
I voted for it just now. I think it has potential as a help in getting parts from one member to another when distance is a real factor. Couple months ago I posted a need for trailer space needed to Penns. from Kansas with gas money offer but came up dry. Hotrodmtodd and I tried to swing a parts trade but from my end the parts (7' snow blade, pump and mount) was just to much to consider shipping from Kansas to Penns. Wish it had worked out, really wanted to trade for the auto trans he had (built 700R4)
I'd like to see this come about. I would be willing to help as the opportunity allows.
