A little cutting and welding on the Jimmy floor
The previous owner felt a need to cut a hole above the gas tank in the floor of the Jimmy. I can only guess he did it for access to the sending unit? The gas tank wan an aftermarket 30+ gallon tank that looks similar to those Northwest metal products tanks. I was having problems like I was running out of gas so I decided to put a repop tank in (after soldering a filler neck on). While the tank is out I decided to weld a patch in the floor. Here are a few pics of todays progress.

The only problem I have is sometimes when I weld I have to gring to deep to smooth out the welds. Anybody have any suggestions? More weld?

Looks great wish i could weld body pannels. that 30 gal tank must be nice I hate having to fill up so much.

Here is the gas tank install. I used the aftermarket straps (I welded the folded over ends) and undercoated all of it, straps included before installation. I also did all the body mounts at this time, painting everything metal with POR 15 before mount install.
