Cool greetings from sunny florida!

hey there folks.

i've been lurking around the boards for a month or so now. just picked up an 82 chev custom deluxe. I6 3 on the floor.

so far it's caused me a little grief but i'm optimistic for the long term objective.

on the way home from the PO's house the 3 speed shifter jammed up and the truck had to be towed the remaining 6 miles home. since then, the steering column locked up and the key couldn't turn it over. (it was smooth as pebble plucked from a stream and slimmer than a license plate). i got a replacement ignition switch but haven't put it in yet.

plans include: 18-20" wheels with 5/7 static drop, paint and body, buckets and console, 350 swap etc etc $$$$. in the order actually.

happy to be here, this place is a wealth of knowlege.

Lightbulb Re: greetings from sunny florida!

hey thanks for the welcome.

perhaps i should mention i'm originally from hamilton, ontario, canada. all the trucks like mine back home are full o' rust and / or cheese.

the 350 swap is waaay last on my list of things to do. the engine runs like a champ. why replace what isn't broken, right? before i picked up the truck i thought it'd be gutless, but it goes pretty good for what it is. are there some performance type add-ons i can install for a few extra horses and / or shine?

I live in the sunny Okanagan (although it's not too sunny right now). We did have a fair bit of snow until a few days ago... It warmed up to 55 degrees this week and it's pretty much gone in the valley bottoms. As nice as that might be for BC, I would rather be in Florida right now.
