Junkyard AC in a 56?

Anybody done it? Any particular donor rig I could consider? Thanks upfront, Dusty

They never had it. Try Vintage Air, Hot Rod Air or Old Air Products.

Re: Junkyard AC in a 56? (not 56 oem)

Thanks, but I didn't mean 56 OEM ac, more like 2006 chev truck to 1956 chev truck. Is there a reasonable way to avoid the $1000 solution? My money tree looks a little wilted.

I can't say I know or heard of anyone adapting a newer modern AC swap.

Re: Junkyard AC in a 56?

I've saw it done several times. If you know what you're doing (meaning experienced AC man) it can come out decent. Without any leaks. But very few come out looking anywhere near decent. Or don't leak.

Kits might look really expensive in the catalog, but when you consider you can order a kit designed for your particular vehicle, and everything is new, you're way ahead ordering a kit.

Well said magsnubby! I agree. I hated to dish out $1000 bucks on my AC, but I'am glade I did. The AC install does not look like a hack job.
