Throtle linkage
I would like to put a 71 or 72 gas pedal assembly on my 69. I know that they are cabel operated but I dont think I would have any problems with the swap. Has anybody done this swap was it complicated, pics would be great

I plan on doing the same with my truck, although I already have a 72 cab so I don't think I would be able to help you much. Good luck on it though.

The area of the floor where it bolts to is different. Look into this area first if your going to go for it. I removed a cable type from my '69 after I bought it that someone halfassed installed. I prefer the rod type myself.

I cut a pc from the firewall on a junk 71 cab, & welded it on my 69 to mount the peddle, then drilled the hole for the cable. Some of the guys are opting for aftermarket cables , such as Locar for more of a bolt in deal. Good luck......

Because of the fire wall differences, I opted to cut the 69 pedal rod and welded on the 71-2 pedal so that I have the rod setup with the later pedal. The floor on the 71-2 has a heel rest and
I welded a formed sheet metal "hump" in to duplicate the foot rest. I am attaching a picture of the pedal and if you look close, you can see the weld area. Jim Last edited by JimKshortstep4x4; 12-09-2002 at 09:13 AM. |
