I'm new to this message board and new to truck building. I am looking for a 67 fleetside short-bed large window(near California if possible). I have found a couple of trucks on the internet that I thought about calling on but they were both stepside trucks. Is swapping to a fleetside bed a simple remove and replace job? And is it even possible to find a fleetside bed (aftermarket or junkyard?) Thanks

swapping the beds is the easy part. but its just about impossible to find a short box the isnt trashed for sale. its gonna be easier to find a short wide truck like u want than do the swap

ok, I'm lost in the lingo. What's the difference between a "short box" and a "short wide truck"? Thanks

Buy the truck with the bed you want.
Beware of trucks on the internet, if you find one that is too far from home to observe in person you can have a board member close by give you his or her opinion.
Swapping the beds is easy, finding a Short fleet bed is a hard task.

There is a truck out there for you, best thing you can do at this time is research the model you want and what options, then you will have a rough idea as to what it will cost.

You say you want a 67 with large glass that in itself is pretty rare.
Only about 25 percent that I have seen have that option.
Why not a 68 model they are close to the same in appearance except for the side markers other subtle differences and all have the large back glass.

No side markers is what I like about the 67. I am just beginning the search for a truck and don't know that much about these years. I'm not dead set on a 67 though. The 68 is very much an option. I just like the grill on these years.

I went and looked at two, this week. They were both supposed to be very nice solid projects with a lot of the work already done. You don't want either one of them! One man's gold is another man's junk. That is why it really helps if you can find one close enough to see--long trips make for long disappointments.

Short box, short bed, SWB..all that means is it has a 6 1/2 foot long bed. HTe smallest of these made, and only in 1/2 ton trucks.
Wide bed means fleet side.
A few ppl will say narrow bed, which is one way of saying step side.

SWB & LWB refer to the Wheel Base of the truck ... .Stepside and Fleetside refer to the type of bed ...

I agree...SNB (Short narrow bed) sounds dumb IMO, plus ppl will look at you like you have a carb growing out of your head.

I know you said you were looking for a 67, but Bill at Vintage Chevy Trucks in Fremont had a nice 71 short fleetside for sale(at least the last time I was there) It is orange and needs a little bit of work, and I think he wanted $2100 for it. I haven't seen any other swb fleetside trucks for sale around here. Good luck looking for a 67 though.
