Comcast cable box/TV issues

Comcast just gave us a new cable box because our old one was tiling. We are now having a problem with the remote working consistently. The tech said that there is an issue with the Panasonic Plasmas sending a signal that blocks the remote signal. The only solution they have is to move the cable box a minimum of 4 feet away from the TV. In our space that isn't really possible (even the tech said it wasn't possible). Has any one had similar issues? Anyone know a solution?

TV = Panasonic T-50PX75U
Cable Box = Motorola DCH3200

I'm thinking about trying an RF extension or a universal remote.

don't have a solution for you.but,my new samsung lcd suffer's from the same thing with comcast remote and their motorola hd dvr. and i'm close to 4ft.mine will not stay on the cable setting without having to push it each time.every time i want to change a channel or access the guide.i have to push cable first.

Re: Comcast cable box/TV issues

I'm hoping when the digital switch stuff comes it doesn't effect us. We have a Comcast basic package. I think we get channels from 2 to 99. We don't have any kind of box that we have to use, cable comes from the wall straight to the back of the TV. Our TV has some thing built in that plays the HD channels in HD without needing a box.

We don't want any of the pay stations, or on demand stuff. More boxes and remotes equals more problems in my book.

Zero help to you Bouncy...I know this stuff is happening more and more though.

I would guess you have a flatscreen TV that was bought in the last 2 years,if that's the case your TV has a built in digital reciever so you won't need a converter box,and thats why your tv can pick up the HD channels

Re: Comcast cable box/TV issues

CG, Comcast is dropping all of their analog channels soon. You may want to check to see if you need the converter in place (it's free).

In our area, the HD channels are only in the 104+ with the 1080p stuff in the 600+. We have expanded basic, which doesn't include any of the premium channels, but we do get on-demand which is kind of nice.

Re: Comcast cable box/TV issues

Comcast isn't dropping all ther channels, but they are dropping alot of them.If your cable comes through the wall you're going to lose alot of channels.

Re: Comcast cable box/TV issues

Here is Seattle, they said they were dropping all the analog channels. Maybe we're a beta site or the news is trying to create drama (that would be a first).

Re: Comcast cable box/TV issues

Well, the universal remote doesn't seem to work either. I bought a Harmony 510. I guess I'll try and return it to get my $100 back.

Panasonic doesn't seem to be responding on my requests either. I guess this a situation where all the companies feel that if they ignore it, it will go away.

I have direct tv too. They don't raise the prices every year like Comcast does, but they do charge for each box.
