Battery Junction Block

I am looking for pictures and information on the junction block located near the battery. My truck doesn't seem to have one at the moment and I'd like to try and find one.

Does anyone have pictures of it or it's location? Or do you have a link on where to get one? Thanks.

THis is what I dug up so far:

If that it on the left? if so, is that stock?

same here

Yes and yes.

I got a new one from GMCPauls. It's not exactly like the original, but pretty darned close.

Looks like the one in your second picture may be an aftermarket. The one in the first picture is an original.

Re: Battery Junction Block

ok, so looking at it, it's just a single post connection?

Also, the fusable link, what size and rating should that be that connects it to the battery? Could an inline fuse be used instead?

Re: Battery Junction Block

Yes, it's just a single threaded stud, and all your connectors stack onto it.

The fusible link should be four wire sizes smaller than the wire it is protecting and around six inches long, so on the factory wiring it should be 16 gauge. Having said that, I see on this diagram that the fusible link is six sizes smaller, so somewhere around in there. You might check out this page over at MAD Electrical for more information.

If I were going to put a fuse in, I'd use one of those bigger, blade type fuses like you see in later cars and match it to your alternator output.

Re: Battery Junction Block

Thanks. I will have to look into getting a post and some fusable link to get mine going.

Another question, in this picture, the little box to the right of the heater box on the firewall with the pins coming out, is this the fuse shown in the above picture, or is this something else? Also, how does it get connected if so?

Any idea what size fuse goes on the 18B wire on the right side of the diagram?

Here is the one I found and if it's not exact it's as close as you will find I bet.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Yes it would work and also give you 6 added fuses. I wouldn't want it out by the battery though. I installed mine off the unfused circuit on the fuse block under the dash so that it powers up when I turn the key. The heavy red wire on the stud powers everything.

Re: Battery Junction Block

If you're looking for an under hood junction with a cover, I have some in stock with and w/out a fused protection. They are similar to the 90's GM style except these have snap-to-lock tabs on both ends-they aren't weatherproof, only splash resistant.
