Re: WTB Tach Cluster

I have 3 different ones that I have collected over the years. . . one is for a points distributor, and two are hei. Do you need the wire harness as well? Is there a specific aspect to Identify a 77?

The tachs are no different from the points to HEI distributors. the separate tach wiring is easy to make up . looking closely at the back of the cluster it will tell you where each of the wires go.
there are dozens of threads on the ID of these , but short & sweet version is ----.

73-75- AMP gauge, not Volt
76-77- Volt gauge and mechanincal oil pressure
78-79- volt gauge, Electric oil pressure

80-87- larger Font and 85 MPH speedo.

And NO, for the most part they are not interchangeable.
you wouldn't believe how many small things are different from year to year either. crossy

thanks for the info. I always wondered what the differences were.

I have them in boxes in my garage. I know one is from a points distributor because I was careful to get the wiring with them when I pulled them out.

I will have to get them out and take a look at them.

thanks again for the info.

Re: WTB Tach Cluster

I'd be interested in 1 too....really all I need is just the tach itself, I have one but the motor or whatever you call is bad. Came out of a big truck with the fuel gauge under it....

Re: WTB Tach Cluster

Sorry guys . . . been way busy. Here is a pic of the cluster. It is in great shape as you can see. It is for a standard trans, but you can just add your gear change indicator to this one as it is undamaged.

I'd like $185 plus shipping for it. I see them on ebay go for 2-3 hundred in this condition with the harness.

Let me know who wants it. If first in line passes, on to the next . . . if know one wants it at the price, I guess I will have to go to evilbay.

Re: WTB Tach Cluster

so, since this tach you have there is a 85mph speedo, does that mean that it will work on a 86?

if so, dont look like anyone else is jumping on this, maybe i will

Re: WTB Tach Cluster

Big, that cluster will plug-n-play on any 78-up and is 'correct' for 80-87.
just remember what I've said about he tachs in the past. they often 'work' , but are way off and repairs START at $125. They are EASY to hook up and check against a 'known good' aftermarket tach. . not trying to kill his sale just RE-alerting everyone since this TACH subject continues to come up about once a month anymore.

whomever ships them needs to pay careful attention to it moving around in the box. that left tab and the two towers on the top often get broken off in shipping. the left tab is not a big deal, but the towers are. crossy

Re: WTB Tach Cluster

No takers yet. It is up for grabs to anyone who wants to buy it at the price I listed.

Here are the only two completed listings I could find for this style right now. I have seen them go for over $350!! Crazy.

Yes, these go for more than the earlier ones . . . condition also affects price.

Link one . . .
