Re: POR, KBS, Hammerite and so on
you answered your question before you asked it. As long as you stick to a well known product, you'll be fine. POR15 has been around for YEARS and has proven itself time and time again. So has several others.

Well I'm not so sure about POR15. I've heard that it takes a lot of prep.I also read the the KBS frame kit is like POR15 on steriods.Any other products that are good?

Re: POR, KBS, Hammerite and so on
I sandblasted my frame and then sprayed on the coating. ( It can be brushed or rolled also) It doesn't require any primer , and bonds to any clean surface. It's a very tough coating. I think they said that it was originally desgined to prevent corrosion on offshore oil platforms.

Re: POR, KBS, Hammerite and so on
I cleaned and derusted my frame by hand and used SPI epoxy with a single stage black.

Re: POR, KBS, Hammerite and so on
The prep for POR-15 can be minimal if you want it to be. Go over it with a wire wheel or cup brush to get the loose junk off, clean/degrease it, and paint it on. You can use metal etch before you paint too. but that's about it if you wish.
The better you prep anything before you paint it the better the final outcome will be. POR-15 is sticky stuff, its been on the garage floor for years(by accident) and I didn't do any prep to the floor at all!! LOL
