Ok...I found an ad for a 71 chevy c-10.

The truck is in fairly sad shape. The rockers and cab corners are gone along with the bottoms of the doors on the outside. The longbed is in very good shape however. I didn't check the floorboard because it had carpet and all kinds of stuff all over it. It's got a 350 with a th350 trans. It runs, but the trans is blown. He wants 500 for it, but I think he may take 300 or 400 for it. Should I do this or keep lookging?

I would try to get somthing with as little rust as possible. I learned from experiance bought a truck sounds the like the same shape totally rotten. I spent all winter last year rebuilding the cab. The money you save buying a cheep truck will catch up to you pretty fast. Hope this gets you thinking and is a little help. Just be prepared for all the new parts needed and the cost of rust free doors new rockers cab corners etc. When I bought mine I also new that it had a good 350 so to me that was worth the $ 350 I paid for the truck. I hope I dont sound like a jerk just trying to help. Later Mario

Nah..your not sounding like a jerk at all..as a matter of fact..I had thought along the same lines...the frame and engine are worth the 350...that's all the more I'd pay for it though....if he thinks he's going to get 500 he's crazy...i'd rather have a 68 anyway...but the 71 should have discs right?

are you looking for a driver or a project? I know where a 71 swb project is that is a real nice starter. Arizona cab and doors with zero rust, shaved firewall, all new chassis components. etc.

I would say it depends on your plan for the truck. IE restore, rod, or somewhere in between. but 500 is not that bad to me. If not to restore but the motor, frame, front cross member(5-lug and discs on the 71's) and a five lug rear are worth that. if you can get it for 350 that's even better. and i will buy if from you for 500 if you deliver. LOL

Good points, its worth it for parts if you want a 68 find one of them then swap the disk brakes rear end motor there are ton of good parts you can use on a 68 to get it up to par.

I have drug it around all over the country in pieces. Finally back on the road in 2021. "I can't complain, but sometimes I still do. Life's been good to me so far."
