69 GMC Dana 60 brakes?

Just bought a 69 GMC K2500 4wd pickup. It has a Dana 60 with 12" X 2" brakes. When I call an auto parts dealer they tell me the size should be 12" x 2.5". My other issue is there are no holes in the backing plates for parking brake cables. The cables are still on the truck. Can anyone help or know where I can get info? Can I get different backing plates? Thanks

Mine is a '71 and I had similar problems with the local parts store. If I had to do it again, I would look at LMC or one of the vendors here to keep life simple.

Re: 69 GMC Dana 60 brakes?

With the lack of parking brake cables into the backing plates, it almost sounds as though that rear end has been swapped in from an older 1 ton. The older 1 tons had the parking brake mounted on the back of the transmission. Are you sure it is a Dana 60 and not an Eaton HO52?

Yea, found the 60 stamped where it should be on a dana and its a 10 bolt. Looked at the Eaton and its not that rear. Thanks for the tranny brake info.
