Cool new truck owner in the Army

Hello, everyone. I have recently "inherited" my father-in-law's 1972 C10. It is an awesome truck, but my ownership has started off on quite the wild foot! The truck has been sitting outside, in Michigan, for the past four or five years. I am in the Army, on leave, and am trying to get this truck road-worthy in about a week-and-a-half to make a trip from Michigan to North Carolina. I hope to get the truck home and start doing little body projects here and there with it. My father-in-law used to paint trucks for a living, and he is big into body work, so his expectations are pretty high for me keeping this truck in immaculate shape. I have never been very mechanical, but am quite excited to have this opportunity. I have already found A LOT of helpful information here and will DEFINITELY be back to find out much more!

First off, thank you for your service! Second, welcome to the forum from Shawnee, KS. Glad to have you aboard.

You may think about posting a thread about driving from Michigan to N.C. on the general discussion forum. there are plenty of fine members willing to give a hand to someone in need on that route.

Keep us posted on your progress and again, Thank You for your service to our country!

Doug,

Thanks for the welcome. I think that is a great idea about the trip. I am happy to be a part of what seems to be a huge network.

Welcome to our addiction and Hooah.

I agree with the thread on your journey... I also believe there is an emergency contact list if you will contact Josh or Liz they should be able to give you contact info for members who have volunteered as emergency contacts for members in need.

What is your MOS? If you don't mind me asking.

I trained as a 52D (Gen Mech) but did more work as a 63B (Light wheeled vehicle Mech).

Re: new truck owner in the Army

Jon,
I currently am in satellite communications (31S), but I used to be small arms repair (45B). I will definitely take advantage of that emergency contact list. God willing I won't need to use it, but it is nice to know that it's there! Thanks for your time that you served our great nation. Without service members who have paved the way, less people would be willing to follow. Thanks for the welcome!
