Hey guys,
A member on this forum cut his door frame towards where the angle is in order to get a little more clearance where the curve of the frame meets the cab. Could you if you read this please post what you did again. Much appreciated!!

I had the same problem and my body-man friend told me about using hydraulics to move the top corner. I got an idea and put a board vertically outside of the window frame and gave it one good whack forward with a mini-sledge. Moved it just right.

Was it me? I cut mine on the upper rear curve of my 68. If so, I'll post up some pics after dinner.

Bob,

How much material did you take out when you made the cut? I ask because I run into the same problem on my repop door that I recently mocked up. The gaps and body lines are perfect. I'm just having issues with the window frame. I even drilled out the spot welds on the frame and tapped the frame down lower into the door, but it didn't help alot.

Thanks greystoke! Gotta love these boards! Man, that looks like the perfect solution to this problem. I was at a big car show this past weekend and almost every truck was the same way...tight in that curved corner. I will probably try this and post pictures. Thanks again.

Yup, it was about 1/8", about the width of a well worn Sharpie tip!

As little material as it was, it made a HUGE difference!! And with such little material removed, at has zero effect on how the window operates or sits in the rubber.

Shannon (and jlaird) - Yours looks exactly how mine did when I first hung them. As for where to cut, I just eyeballed a spot right in the middle of the curve from where the gap started to open up on each end, and made the cut there. Cleaned up the cuts and prepped for welding, then used a variety of vice grips and slide clamps to hold things in place while I tacked it, then pulled them off to weld. I used a cutoff wheel to clean up the welds in the corners where a flapper wheel couldn't get.
