Project "RACE TRUCK" aka "Last of the spare parts" build

In an attempt to liquidate the 67-72 parts inventory we are currently finishing, updating or building 4 trucks. Here is the build thread for the last one. I seem to remember it being a 1970??? that I bought as a parts truck about 8 years ago for its AC system for my 1972 Suburban build. At one time it was a highly optioned short bed but a tree had fallen on it, the engine was locked up and it got flooded 2 or three times sitting on my back 20 in a flood plain. About all that we could save was the rolling chassis and the doors.

It is being built by, and for, board member "OLD SCHOOL KID". The build got OFF THE GROUND this past weekend by getting the frame cleaned and ready for paint. There were some hard to reach areas for the pressure washer so we adapted. Thats one way to get it clean!

Cool! Will it have high speed plastic bag holder to keep the soup cans from rolling around in the corners?

At this point we done have a bed for it so we are going to need some type of cargo hold down for sure.

Re: Project "RACE TRUCK" aka "Last of the spare parts" build

You have my mind racing with ideas now.I see a vintage grocery getter racer with old school sponsor lettering on the side, like Piggly Wiggly or even a local independent grocer along with all the other stores you had to hit to get what all you need.Up here there's the Mt.Airy Locker Plant,Olney Drugs,Red Door Country Store...you know I think I should build one, too. We could start a new form of motorsport.I can see it now,NAGGTRA? (NAtional Grocery Getter Truck Racing Association) The sponsors could be endless.Considering it's a go get around town race big motors would not always beat out smaller ones, what with all the lights and the possible wait to get up to a pump (cash only) as well as waiting for lottery ticket buyers or sandwich orders.

For a minute there I didn't see the chains. Thought you had David Cooperfield at your place helping with the prep work.

This will be another very interesting build!
