Passed Smog Today!

My truck passed smog for the first time in about 10 years today. I think I better go buy a Lotto ticket...

YES! I told the dude I bought my '78 from if it passed smog, i'd buy it...I think we both held our breath at the smog check place...Mine passed too. We've got to do something about the assholes at CARB that hold us hostage to out of control smog restrictions on old enthusiast vehicles.

Re: Passed Smog Today!

I know that feeling! I took a buddy with me today so I didn't stress too bad. I smoked about a half a pack of cigarettes while it was getting done though hahaha!
I know some states have "vintage" laws that exempt old cars from getting smogged. I think its funny that a 75 doesn't have to smog, but a 77 does. No difference, really.
I think that ditching my quadrajet for a 1400 Edelbrock and driving the CRAP out of it before I went to the smog place really helped.

Those prarie dogs in the Mojave area should really be happy by you just barely missng them on the highway at 85mph and actualy being able to breathe afterwards

But we could only really be happy if we could have a few environmentalists as sporting as a Mojave prarie dog.

Re: Passed Smog Today!

Right on. Congrats on the pass.

By the way, I believe that CA law says its the sellers responsability to provide a valid smog certificate when the vehicle is sold. I'm lucky I got one with my '87, becuase when I got it, it would have failed miserably!

Re: Passed Smog Today!

The smog tech's only concern was whether or not my 1400 carb was smog legal. After pointing out the decal that comes with the carb with the executive order number, as well as the CARB logo, he shook my hand and congratulated me.

Prairie dogs don't get very close to the highways, but the roadrunners, coyotes, and millions of squirrels have frequent near-death experiences.

Re: Passed Smog Today!

The CAP program is still in effect for us poor Californians with "gross pollutors".

Best thing I ever did was ditch that Quadrajunk!

The insanity of CARB has no limits. That board is environmental NAZI bureaucrats dream! You watch - in near future you'll be fined for taking a fart without having a personal catalytic converter stuck up the rear!!

Just on general observations it is clear that they manipulate data to make more rules.
