Question Suburban Gas Tank

I was just wondering if any of the suburbans came factory with the poly gas tanks or were they all steel?

They were all steel. A plastic tank from that period would have turned to dust 15 years ago.

All were steel and most have rusted and turned to dust, the poly tanks will still be the same as they are now in 100 years. Polyethelene and plastics are not enviromental friendly and do not disinegrate to dust in 100years let alone 15.

It's probably the opposite in Indiana, what with all the cold, moisture and acid rain attacking steel and iron -- but here in Arizona the sunlight and heat tend to breakdown rubber and plastics. In Southern California, smog adds a further deteriorating factor. Plastic stuff "of the period" doesn't last. The metal remains in this environment.
For these reasons, for my money, I'd prefer a steel fuel tank.
