Commercial Title?

Can a commercial title be changed to a normal one?

The truck I bought has a commercial title, but it's not a commercial vehicle.

What differentiates a commercial vehicle from a regular old truck?
Not all trucks are commercial are they?

I don't want to pay the weight fee for nothing.

what kind of truck is it?

Sounds like it was probably bought originally by a large company and used in perhaps a fleet. About the rest, I can't help. Sorry.

As far as I know all pickups in Cal have commercial plates. They did or still do have an exemption for trucks with a slide in camper, but you could not remove the camper to haul anything. I think my tags were $78 this year, alot cheaper than newer trucks. DMV can tell you for sure.

...

hmm.. yeah when I asked they told me the weight fee was either 24 or 52 dollars for my truck, they weren't sure right off hand. the registration is only like 40.00 or so.
either way it will be less than a new car or truck, so i guess i can't complain.

i guess this is why my buddy used to park his truck in a yellow (loading) zone for 8 hours at a time in front of our shop and he never got a ticket. i tried to park an oldsmobile in the same spot once and got ticketed in less than 5 minutes.

i guess that's a benefit of a commercial plate.
i wonder if there are any other good or bad points?
