Body dropped K5 on 22" Bonspeeds

Wanted to start a build thread on my new to me 76 K5 I picked up recently. My buddy decided to part with this K5 he's been building for the last 10 years or so. He made me an awesome deal I couldnt refuse. Its a 76 K5 SFBD on 22" Bonspeed Clutchs. 22x8.5s in the front and the rear end has been narrowed with deep offset 22x10s in the rear. Markers, trim, drip rails door handles, locks, mirrors, and gas door has been shaved. He was also in the process of shaving the firewall and moving the brake booster inside. The truck needs a little TLC in a few areas but my biggest concern will be getting her on the road. All the other issues i will "attempt" to address as smaller projects once shes up and running. I have a big enough project in my SFBD dually for this one to snow ball on me too. We'll see how it goes. Here are a few pics from TEXMEX '08, the last show she was together and driving.

Another on the way home with her behind my tow pig, 99 F350 PSD:

A few layin in the shop:

And one next to my SFBD C30. Body drops everywhere!

I'll try and keep the thread updated as I get things accomplished. First of all I have swept the floor and scraped the decal off they back window... Let me know what you think!

Its a 99 F350 7.3 auto, just rolled over 190K. Its lowered 3/5 with a DJM kit on 6 24" peterbilts wrapped in 305/35/24 toyos. I swapped to an 07 front clip, with a 2011+ 4x4 front air dam, and 08+ tow mirrors, rear bumper, and tail lights. I have new rear fenders to replace my broken ones and a 08+ tailgate I need to get painted along with the front bumper cap and handles. Motor wise all I have done is added a 4" MBRP exhaust with a muffler. It pulls great and the rear end rarely hits the frame (not notched). I get more looks in this thing than anything else I have ever driven. Its a fun truck, great for haulin a bunch of guys to and from car shows.

I sold my CCSB one day and found this motor/trans the next day on Amarillo CL. If I see another I'll let you know.

Re: Body dropped K5 on 22" Bonspeeds

Well I got the motor and trans picked up. It came out a an 05 1500 that rolled 5 times, there was not a single panel on the truck that wasn't smashed. Somehow the motor and driver manged to escape the accident with out a scratch! Well almost, the power steering resivoir has one small dent, but that's all! Best thing of all was I was able to hear the truck run before I purchased it. It actually would still remote start! It was a 3hr trip one way and we had to pull it our selves, but at 88K miles and $1,200 I still feel like it was a great deal. I got the motor, transmission, harness, computer, TAC module, and pedal. I'll get some pics up soon.

I hope to get my cam, valve springs, and push rods ordered today!

Re: Body dropped K5 on 22" Bonspeeds

Well I got a Cam ordered and installed in in the 5.3, but I stumbled onto a couple bargains I couldn't pass up that have been taking up time from working on the K5.

First I bought another dually 2008 GMC Bagged on custom cut 24s.

Then I sold my F350 and instead of rolling that cash over onto the new dually, like I should have, I bought this truck.

Its one of my favorite crew cabs ever built and with it having been a cover truck I couldn't resist.

So, sorry for the delay in updates, I hope its an acceptable excuse! My stable is now 100% GM again!

Did you actually get any of this done before you sold it? If so, any pictures?
