fuel filter
been looking at some pic's of members trucks and everybody seemsto have a fuel filter on the fuel line.my truck does't.should i put one on?I also had a helluva time just getting spark plugs out because of the headers.Having fun with my new truck tho.People know everything here.Don't have money so try to keep maintenance up and truck clean.

I have an in-line fuel filter. It was on the truck when I bought it but I would have installed one any way. There is a lot of rain up her in the Pacific Northwest and it can wash a lot of dirt into the tanks at the stations. It's a pretty cheap safety precaution. There was a post several months back about in-line fuel filters and how the glass kind can break and start an engine fire! I have the glass kind but before I get my truck running again, I'm going to switch it out.

By all means get an inline filter. Buy one for the size line you have... 5/16 or 3/8, cut the steel line between the pump and carb. Stay away from the glass ones.

Well its either that or some day you try your hand at finding a replacement for the one inside the fuel port on the carb! Since I have an old 2G that would be fun...
...in-line filters are damn cheap, and they really don't cause any fuel delivery problems unless you get some huge-a$$ thing that the fuel pump can't shove fuel through! ------------------ '69 3/4 ton C20 2wd w/ 350ci/400THM and a wood bed! I still run the little filters in the carb. There only cost about a dollar and are easy enough to replace. Those gas lines are too spendy to replace for me. just my $.02

I run 2 filters, one under the cab just off the tank, and the glass one on top of the motor.
While it is true that the glass ones can bust or leak, I still run one. If placed using some common sence, they won't hit anything. When my Longhorn got smashed, the filter was fine.  ------------------ '69 G.M.C. 350/350. Trying to clean up the left over damage from the Dope-Smokin-Old-Man I've been dubbed the Longhorn Freak/Fanatic/Expert, I just hope I can live up to it.
