new 67 rear view mirror too lose
I like the stock mirror set up and ordered a new bracket and mirror. Actually it's my second set as I stripped the first one trying to get the stalk to pinch the mirror stem.
It seems the bracket is too thick to pinch the mirror piece that goes in between. I can't find anything thin enough to add in between. Hopefully someone out there has a solution. Thanks. |

I didn't know they were reproducing '67 rear view mirrors. Can you post a pic of the mirror and the bracket? How much slop is there? Is a standard hardware store washer too thick? How much room do you need to fill and what diameter? many of us could make a shim but would need the ID, OD, and thickness.

Hi,
earlyclassic.com has them as I assume others do.. the problem is there's no real space but the mirror slowly goes down as you hit bumps in the road. I'm thinking of maybe putting some strong glue on it and sliding it together. |

You can get bronze shims at machinist supplies, they're paper thin...McMaster Carr has them here in LA.. or you can cut a piece of tin foil into a shim, and put that into the slot.
That may give you the spacer you need. J.

I didn't have any luck with the ne I got either. They're just poorly engineered.IIRC the shoulder bolt has a touch too much shoulder to clamp tight.I think I found a good one in the JY to use.

I have ran across this before too. Using some black RTV worked on both sides between that and the mount. But any decent epoxy would work allowing it to cure off the truck for the night.
