Lift kits. Why such a big price difference?

Someone school me here. I've never done a lift, but I've got an old Dodge (sorry for the curse word) farm truck that I'd like to do a 4"
I've looked at:
Skyjacker: $728
Rough Country: $370
What's going on here? Are we paying for Skyjacker to advertise on Duck Dynasty?
It's a nasty old farm truck. Just looking for something cheap.

Doesn't sound right.... Any chance Rough Country is front springs & rear blocks only, and Skyjacker is springs & shocks all around?

I'm with Mike. there has to be a difference in what the kit contains. For what its worth, i have a rough country, or maybe tuff country 4" kit that i was impressed with(never actually drove on it, replaced by bags). i have had a skyjacker in the past and don't know as there is much difference. i have 2.5" springs from the either tuff country or rough country, it is from whomever the 4" is not, on my "parts truck". they are fine as far as springs go.

so, i would check to see the contents of the kit and see if that justifies the price difference. if it does not, i would not be scared to buy the rough country stuff.

Yea, the cheap one has rear blocks, but the expensive one uses spring "add-a-leaf" on rear. Not like it's four new springs.
The cheap guys (Rough Country) you can get all four new springs but it's still $130 cheaper than the expensive guys (SkyJacker) with the add-a-leaf
Just asking, it makes no sense to me. Thought maybe I was missing something.

Quality and design. Maybe where they are made,too. I know springs are simple pieces of steel,but there are differences and the end result is Rough Countrys are old technology and ride/flex poorly by comparison. I don't run either,but the Tuff Countrys I run are made in USA. I don't know about the others

probably cause the dodge springs are pretty specific with the dimensions and the curl of the eyes. id have to guess its supply and demand.

from what i have heard is guys put 73-87 chevy 4 inch HD fronts in the cummins trucks for a less expensive alternative. as for it being a bolt in affair, i couldnt tell you.

I'd say its partially the contents but also the name (skyjacker)
I'd be careful of the rough country and def spend the extra $$$$$ for springs all around (you'll thank me later and so will your passengers)
I put a 4" on a 73 dodge I had and went with the cheap block kit, and the dang thing beat me to death, even over small bumps! (I guess hence the name ROUGH country)
It worked for the most part, and I was able to mount 36" tires on my truck (still rubbed a little at full lock and when flexed) just don't expect a semi comfy ride-ever, if you go the block route.

Btw that's NOT a "nasty old farm truck ", that's a rig with SERIOUS potential!

Have you tried a local spring shop? most can do any height lift you want.

In '77 nothing was listed for my '69 W200 or any Dodge before '72. Never seen anything listed since,either. I lifted that by pounding the main leaf from one side with a sledge hammer on an anvil. You just smack it at the center bolt area and outward a little. Then arch the other main to match. Once they are the same you arch the other springs till they fit the main. So easy a caveman could do it...or at least it's the caveman way to do it! Make sure that spring is gripped tight as tight can be!
