Chevy 6.0 rear main seal adventure

Ok need some advice. Changed the rear main seal and plate on my 2003. The kit had the seal already installed in the plate. It didnt come with any instructions. I got it on but starting the bolts in the new plate and "working it till it went onto the crank,.... is this an issue? Next part is there are two bolts that come in from the bottom and i assume help snug it to the pan. i tightened those first then torqued the rest starting from the bottom working my way to the top. after getting it done my cousin said the two bottom ban to covered bolted seemed loose and tightened one and SNAP broke one of the two bolts after i had already torqued everything. Will this be a leak? This has been a pain in the butt from the get go.
