Re: Saab's 5.3v8

You sure the half shafts are coming out of the oil pan? It should be the same 5.3 that's in the trailblazer since the Saab is built on the same platform

anything is possable but that sounds like alot of work and youll probably have to switch to rack n pinion steering

Are you making the '68 all wheel drive?

Re: Saab's 5.3v8

I've got the same drive train in my Envoy Denali. Strange seeing the half shafts sticking out the oil pan no matter who you are! One side is the front differential assembly and passenger side had the 4wd lock up unit. My understanding is exhaust manifolds on these engines are very similar to Trailblazer SS manifolds. I'm eyeballing the LS power plant in my Envoy..... swap oil plans and rock on! Of course my better half already has put the cancellation to my thoughts on making my 72' a envoy powered truck....

Re: Saab's 5.3v8

Yep they do go through the oil pan. The 6cyl does too. The only problems I see in using that drivetrain is having to do something about the transmission but I'm sure you have already work that out. Yep the manifolds carry the same number for the TBSS and the other V-8 TB platforms so they ARE the best manifolds to have from what I understand. Good luck to you . Jim

No. I just want the engine and trans for my c10. However, I do believe it would cool to use the awd in a shortbed/ single cab Silverado. That would be a cool clone SS.

Re: Saab's 5.3v8

I don't like AWD at all. I see you have a Silverado SS...weren't some of them AWD?

Re: Saab's 5.3v8

Naw it's not a real SS, that's why I put it in (). I was aiming to clone one, or should I say, 'tribute'.
Some of the SS SILVERADO's were awd early in the production years. But later on towards the end they came in 2wd. They were all extended cab trucks too. That's why I like when I see someone clone crew cabs like mine or single cab short beds.

I'd love to own a 2006 Intimidator SS.

other than you being a NASCAR fan , not really much to that truck . IF GM is going to put Nr 3 name all over it, they should at least have the common decency to put in some power under the hood , 345HP... is an insult to the man and his legacy.
