Wanted: 71 K20 Brake Drums

I just got back from the machine shop and have bad news. So, I am in desperate need of a new set of rear brake drums for a 1971 Chevrolet 3/4 ton, 4x4 with an Eaton/Corporate Rear Axle.

Apparently this brake drum and hub assembly was only used ONE year. You can check your parts books (Wagner, Bendix), but it won't do any good. The GM parts number from1971 is #3996637.

If anyone knows if I can swap backing plates and use drums from a 1972 I would greatly appreciate it. Please help.

Thanks.

swap the drums, hubs, backing plates etc. from a 2wd 3/4 ton with an eaton rear. it'll all fit and works fine.

Thank you Jerry, if anyone would know what to do, you would.

But, a couple things I thought of are will the bolt pattern of the backing plate match up or will I have to drill them to match?

Also, is the spindle on the end of the axle tube the same to match the hubs and bearings?

Thanks for your help...

You might call them on Monday parts shows they have a set of drums . Parts search doesn't show if drums are for Eaton . They are closed today . I had a hell of a time finding a set about 10 years ago for a 71 4x4 that i had Good luck . Jose
