Truck value sight
Is there a decently accurate site where I can look up the value of a 71 SWB? I'm looking at one but I want to see if the price is ok.

Post up some pictures and a description. Lots of people here will give you their value. Or maybe check closed eBay auctions for something similar.

Alright. Its a 71 C10 Swb big block. Its been mechanically restored, and the interior is all restored in hugger orange and black. All thats left is paint and theres no rust or dents. And I personally know the owner of this truck. He was a standup guy. He died 3 weeks ago and I'm helping the widow sell off the rest of his trucks. But I REALLY want to keep this one.

Post some pictures. With paint it sounds like a $15,000 to $20,000+ truck depending on quality of work. How much will the paint job cost? Maybe get a paint quote before you purchase it?

There is no such site and never will be. This site right here is the best you'll get. You want real world, right? There are so many variables you just can't harness it all in any format. Everyone here has bought at least one truck, quite a few have bought several, and many have sold at least one. Then there are all the ones we see for sale that we discuss. I just don't think you will find a better resource for anything 67-72 GM Truck than this site right here. It really truly is the one single best resource for anything 67-72 Chevy/GMC truck...Justa fact!

X3, plus there are two price ranges, if a person were to BUY a certain truck they will have one price in mind, but if the same person were to SELL the same truck I'm sure the price will be much more..

One site you might try is "SearchTempest". It searches all craigslist ads. Use "any" as your distance and C10 or something like that as criteria. It searches your local craigs and keeps expanding the circle bigger and bigger. Eventually you see everything out there and see what they are "ASKING" for their trucks. Keep in mind asking and getting are two different things.
I like to use the method of taking the asking price and breaking it down by affixing a price to each major component. The seller has affixed a value to each to come up with amount they will take for the truck. Like tires/wheels $1000 (example), if you know you hate those and will change them but love the truck other than that is it still a good deal with that value removed? Do the same for the motor, trans, body, paint, interior. $10,000 asking, $2,000 body, $2,000 motor, $1,000 trans, $1,500 interior, etc. Not perfect but that's how I break down an asking price if I know I will be changing certain major components.

I would value the truck at more than $10k for a '71 SWB BB that has been restored (except paint). The problem is people's definition of the word "restored" can vary greatly. Post up several pics so we can get a better idea of the condition. The more info and pics you post the closer we can zero in on the actual value of the truck. If paint truly is the ONLY thing remaining to having a fully restored truck then i would put it in the $15-20k range, but something tells me there is more left to do.

No idea how original anything is on it without seeing it, the spid, the level and quality or effort or workmanship. As Steve said, the level of 'restored' has a lot of interpretations....too many. I've seen a lot of swb trucks that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pool. So post up a few pics, heck even 1...and you will get better and more accurate feedback. Coley
